27th Street Lands

We are excited to explore the future possibilities of 1675 27th Street with the surrounding community.

Building Demolition to Start in June

The aging care home building has become the subject of several break-ins and vandalism over the last year even with 24/7 security in place. A demolition permit has therefore been granted by the District of West Vancouver who have confirmed that all traffic management, erosion control and other requirements will be met by the contractors.

In advance of demolition, much of the care home equipment inside the building has been donated to the Red Cross who have sent it to Guatemala, Uruguay, Ukraine, Belize, and Ethiopia. We’re thrilled that some of the old building is therefore able to be reused.

Demolition is expected to commence the week of June 6th and is expected to be completed by August 25, 2022. Work Hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with no work planned for Sundays or on holidays, except on limited occasions. Lane closure and single-lane traffic may be required at times.

We understand this may still result in some noise and disruption to your day-to-day routines and apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have questions or concerns about the demolition work please contact the contractor:

Site History

1675 27th Street was formerly home to the West Vancouver Care Centre. In recent years, the building has come to the end of its lifespan and was recently closed. The owners are now in the early stages of determining what the future of the property might hold, and are looking forward to working with the community to explore options.

Site Context

The site is located on 27th Street, approximately 800m from Dundarave Village. The area is highly desirable, but lacks housing options for young families, people working in West Vancouver, and for seniors wishing to downsize.

Planning for the future

We are looking to prioritize the needs of the community for the future of the site.
